2022

Liverpool International Music Festival (LIMF) returns with more than 100 artists playing at more than 15 venues across the city centre.

Taking place from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July,
this year’s festival is a mix of free events and ticketed gigs which will see household names such as UB40 feat. Ali Campbell, De La Soul, Heather Small and The Zutons perform.

The entire festival will take place in city centre venues in a bid to re-energise and support the city’s music sector which was severely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

LIMF keeps ticket prices low with star power high, to ensure great live music and experiences are as accessible as possible. Some tickets are still available.

This year’s theme is Power to the People, and in homage to that, a series of free, entertaining and educational talks will take place at Chapters of Us on Sunday 31 July.

These will see prominent people from the local music sector talk about the importance of music and heritage, and the need for authentic representation in music. The conversations will start from 1pm and no pre-booking is needed.

it's all about tweed...

Chanel showed its autumn-winter collection in Paris.
It's all about tweed.
And colours.
What do you think?

“In this new collection, there are suits, long dresses like Mademoiselle Chanel imagined them in the 1930s: fitted to the body even though they have strong shoulders here, and pleated dresses like the wedding dress for instance,” Chanel creative director Virginie Viard said in a press release. “And lace too, inlaid, reworked, not embroidered, but repainted. The palette consists of bright green, khaki, beige, pink, lots of black and silver.”

“Allowing for infinite combinations of colours and materials, tweed is an eternal code for the House: ‘I love working with it so much, I couldn’t live without it at CHANEL ... Devoting the entire collection to tweed is a tribute,’”  quoting Viard.

Evolving the vision for the storied house to 2022 and how women dress now, Viard understands the practicality integral to one’s wardrobe. Dedicating most of the collection to tweed may seem like an overkill to some, but it quite makes sense when considering the durability and longevity of the fabric.

Six Tips for a
Stress-Free Staycation

Picture
With summer holiday bookings already well up on pre-covid levels and many airlines facing ongoing battles over staff shortages, a last-minute surge in domestic bookings is a very real possibility, with Britain’s roads expected to be especially busy this summer.

But covering long distances when Britain’s roads are at their busiest doesn’t have to be stressful.

If you follow some simple steps before you leave and are prepared for any eventualities once on the road then there is no reason your car journey can’t be an enjoyable start to your holiday.

Plan your route
Drivers can get a heads up on the fastest route and any planned roadworks by checking an online route planner. Planning your route can help you avoid some of the busiest roads.

Allowing time for your journey
On some days and on some of the busier routes from major cities to the seaside there is no way to avoid the busiest roads. It is worth trying to avoid the busiest times such as Friday afternoons, but if you can’t, you might want to try leaving early in the morning before the traffic has had a chance to build up.

Look after your car
Making sure your car is in good condition before the day will help avoid any hold-ups due to car problems. Check the oil and tires before you head off on a long drive and fill up the tank the day before so you can be flexible about where and when you next need to get fuel.

 Check the weather
If you keep an eye on the forecast for the day you travel you will know whether to expect weather-related delays. Heavy rain can really slow down very busy roads, and hot weather will likely attract daytrippers making the roads even busier.

Leave on time
It isn’t easy to get everyone out of the house on time especially if it is an early start, but if you set off late you might be tempted to take fewer breaks on the drive down. The key to a stress-free journey is taking away the worry that you won’t arrive on time while taking regular breaks to unwind.

Have fun
Listen to music in the car and be excited for your holiday to come. Take regular breaks, especially if you have a car full of children so they can stretch their legs, and make sure that everyone is fed, watered and most of all relaxed.
